Woodworking tips : How to Reduce Planer Snipe of your planer

Are you using your planer for some woodworking project of yours? Need to reduce your planer snipe but not sure how? A thickness planer can take off too much material in the beginning or the end of a board which is a real pain, so you need to reduce the planer snipe to avoid this. Grizzly planers are one of the most amazing planer available in the market, check out grizzly planer reviews. Here are 6 ways in which you can reduce your thickness planer while milling wood for your projects:

Cut the snipe from the ends

One of the easiest ways to reduce the planer snipe is by cutting off the ends of the board which contains the snipe so that the planer snipe doesn’t find anything. This is a little wasteful though since you lose around 2 inches of wood from each end and have to make more cuts later on to bring it back to stability.

Adjusting the infeed/outfeed tables

One of the best ways to reduce the planer snipe is by adjusting the infeed and outfeed tables. You can raise the front and back edges of the infeed and outfeed tables respectively so that when a board is entered into the planer, its back end gets lifted up while its front end remains seated and is not raised.

Send a wasted board before and after your

Another way to reduce the snipe is by sending a sacrificial board both before and after the board you are planing. This is one of the best ways to reduce snipe as the sacrificial boards act like a part of the original board and suffer from the snipe while the middle board remains safe and without any snipe.

Attach side runner to take the brunt

If you have a small board for planing, then you can glue up a few side runners to this board so that they take the brunt of the snipe. These side runners should be thin but longer than the original board so that when you push this piece into the planer, the side runners will get sniped but not the middle board.

Running your boards at an angle

You can also adopt the method of sending your board at an angle of 15 or 30 degrees. This will help your rollers ease on your board instead of directly sniping it but again it is not a full proof plan to save your board from getting sniped, a little part of your board will get sniped still.

Lifting your board when sniping

Another way to reduce the snipe is by lifting your board when it goes inside the planer so that the board end stays away from the cutter head and won’t get sniped. You do this again when the board is coming out of the planer so that the board end which is inside the planer stays near the planer bed and away from the cutter head. This is not a full-proof method because a part of the board still gets sniped off but the damage it considerably less.

Cello cape – woreoutblog

After a late morning coffee date with some girlfriends I stopped by Downtown Threads and left with this gorgeous camel cape. Id been hunting for a longer camel coat and this cape was perfect;  its 100% wool and I got it for a song. I would call this cape classic, fairly conservative, but apparently to D it screams orchestral.

sunnies: dirt chic, wool cape: downtown threads, polo: raplh lauren, scarf: carol maguire home, leggings: tj maxx, flats: target, vintage eel skin clutch, misc bangles, photoshoot: Candidtales.

When I first showed him the cape he hilariously blurted out, it looks like a cello case. As we were heading to the grocery store he asked, are you going to wear your new string section coat to the store? I guess when I called it classic, Ds mind immediately went to classical music? Its possible resemblance to string instruments aside, I plan on wearing and loving this cape well into the winter months.

Friendsgiving 2015

This weekend was our annual Friendsgiving party. Friendsgiving is an epic annual pre-Thanksgiving party that brings all of our friends together to kick off the holiday season and grub on traditional Thanksgiving dishes.  Hosted by our friends Mac & Rebecca for the fourth year in a row, more than twenty of us crowded around tables, squished onto couches, and huddled on the floor to enjoy an impressive array of homemade holiday dishes. In keeping with Friendsgiving tradition there was an incredible amount of food, drink, and laughter and the merriment lasted late into the evening.

Given the amount of food I traditional eat at Friendsgiving wearing high waisted flares was a ballsy move but in the end the snug denim kept me from overdoing it, though I seriously debated unbuttoning my pants to make room for a second helping of the brownie, cheesecake trifle my girl Allison brought.

Bookworm Wednesday: Scary Book October V

I read Robin Cooks Toxin when I was a freshman in high school; I was horrified. I gave up red meat for a while afterwards and started to really worry about food contamination, E. coli. in particular.

This book scared me by showing me a side of the food industry and the sometimes lethal side effects of food borne illnesses. Toxin is fiction but similar , true life accounts, of the horrors of E. coli. poisoning crop up more than we might like to imagine. It seems fitting that Toxin is the last book in my Scary Book October as its story has lingered in the back of my mind since I read the last page.

Boy Stuff – Woreoutblog

Looking at this outfit one might think I raided a preteen boys closet. Admittedly I found this sweater in the mens section at Goodwill, I have great luck in the Mens XS/S section. This sweater was one of my first finds,  incredibly warm and my go to layering piece when we head out on camping and hiking trips. To completed my boyish look, boyfriend jeans and unseen H&M high tops. I am so glad boys clothes arent just for boys anymore.

what mens/boys wear are you working into your wardrobe?

Cozy – Woreoutblog

I have an affinity for ponchos, grandpa sweaters, oversized cardigans, basically if I could get away with it Id go about my day wrapped in down comforter. I love to be cozy. So when we were flying out the door to take an evening walk I didnt think twice about grabbing this bold wrap. By no means is this chic look or something youd see on the runway but it is perfect for a sunset stroll on one of the last warm fall evenings, and honestly thats what Id prefer.

bookworm wednesday: recommendations for who?

Ive always been an avid reader but things started to get out of control when D bought me a Kindle Paperwhite for my birthday last year. I couldnt stop reading or shopping. Amazons got this thing called Whispernet, it instantly sends books to your Kindle, one click and youre reading. It made it easy to buy, buy, buy; I bought everything from romance to sci fi, presidential memoirs, and non-fiction. Which might explain why my Amazon recommendations are all over the map:
