I read Robin Cooks Toxin when I was a freshman in high school; I was horrified. I gave up red meat for a while afterwards and started to really worry about food contamination, E. coli. in particular.
This book scared me by showing me a side of the food industry and the sometimes lethal side effects of food borne illnesses. Toxin is fiction but similar , true life accounts, of the horrors of E. coli. poisoning crop up more than we might like to imagine. It seems fitting that Toxin is the last book in my Scary Book October as its story has lingered in the back of my mind since I read the last page.
